TOPS in Lexington and TOPS in Louisville feature two Kentucky lung cancer survivors in their October 2020 issue. Leah and Lindi had never met until Leah’s lung cancer diagnosis caught Lindi’s attention through a mutual friend. They have since bonded over their own personal situations and the advocacy they, and so many other survivors, strive to participate in. They are determined to raise awareness that anyone can get lung cancer, even if you’ve never smoked. Erasing the stigma of lung cancer is the key to progressing research and funding for this #1 cancer killer.
Breath of Hope Kentucky donates $12,000 to UK HealthCare from their Unite to Fight Campaign and Event. Because of the success of the 2019 Inaugural Unite to Fight Event and Campaign to support lung cancer in Kentucky our organization donated a generous portion of our net profits to the Kentucky LEADS Collaborative and the UK College of Nursing BREATHE program to support the work they do to help improve the survival statistics of lung cancer in Kentucky. The campaign kicked off with the Unite to Fight event November 1st and ended on December 31, 2019. Plans are underway to continue this campaign in the year 2020. To see a highlight of the evening go to the Event tab on this website.
Preparations for the Inaugural 2019 Unite To Fight event could not be possible without the dedicated volunteers who are gave of their time to work at the event. Two weeks prior to the event some of the volunteers gathered at Lindi’s home to understand more about the layout for the evening and find out what their roles would be during the event.
